Equipment Handling (Roadie) Assignments

In general, band members are responsible for handling their own instruments and music stands. In adddition, for the band to operate effectively, there are a large number of "ROADIE" activities that must be accomplished prior to and after rehearsals and concerts. The following tables list such activities, when they occur, and the members or member instrument sections generally assigned to aid in such roadie work. In each section there is a designated section Roadie Coordinator who should be responsible for assuring that section assignments are accomplished. Coordinators should encourage the first section members who arrive at an event to take care of the assigned pre-event roadie activities.

Auxilliary and percussion equipment needs to be moved for every band activity. The normal storage space for equipment needed for every rehearsal is in the first floor storage closet at the CAC. Equipment needed only for concerts is generally stored in the Band Van. For rehearsals equipment needs to be moved from the storage location to the rehearsal location and back after the rehearsal. For concerts at the CAC, the equipment needs to be moved from storage (closet and Van) to the CAC Theater stage and back to its respective stroage location after the event. For concerts at other venues, after the last rehearsal before the concert, equipment is all moved to the Band Van. At the non-CAC concert location, equipment is moved from the Van to the performance site before the concert and back to the Van afterwards. Generally, immediately after such events, the Van is taken back to the CAC and the rehearsal equipment is moved back to the CAC storage closet. All such equipment movement requires "ROADIE" activity. It is each member's responsibility to see that their assigned equipment is moved for every event. The exact list of such equipment is dependent on the music being rehearsed/peformed and the venue of the event. In general, such "ROADIE" assistance is again the responsibility of all members collectively.

Music collection after concerts or events is also the responsibility of the section Roadie Coordinator. Unless directed otherwise, immediately after an event, each member should gather their music distributed for the event, both played and unplayed, place it in the corresponding concert folder and pass the complete concert folder to the section Roadie Coordinator, who will gather all such folders and pass them to the music librarian.
